A conversation with my friend at her birthday celebration:
Her: I'm 26.
Me: Wait, you're 26? What year were you born?
Her: 1985.
Me: You're 25.
Her: No, I'm 26.
Me: You were born in 1985. It's 2010. You're 25.
Her: *thinks* Oh! I'm 25!
Me: You're a quarter of a century year old!
Her: Gee, thanks!
Me: I just gave you an extra year!

ReplyDeleteIt's so weird, I just did something like that yesterday. I was thinking about how I'm always (I almost just said "usually", like it changes or something :p) one year older than the last digit of the year.. which somehow made me think, "wait.. am I 22?"... Apparently I thought it was 2011..
I've done that too! Right before I turned 24 I kept thinking I already was 24 and that I'd be turning 25.
